Cycles of the Moon

Film Branding, Title Design & Promotional Materials

Directed by Annie Acker, Cycles of the Moon is a surreal dark comedy exploring female friendship, empowerment, healing, and a little bit of mysticism. Working with Annie, I created the film’s visual identity and carried it across both motion and print, developing the branding, opening title sequence, closing credits, movie poster, and promotional postcard. The goal was to create a visual language that reflected Elle’s journey from isolation and harassment in a male-dominated workplace to finding connection, healing, and empowerment through an unexpected community of women.

Branding

Created the film’s logo and a supporting symbol as the foundation for its visual identity. Together, they draw from the film’s themes of femininity, mysticism, and transformation, giving the film a distinct visual language.

Opening Title Sequence

The opening title sequence immediately puts us in Elle’s world, as she navigates being catcalled and objectified by the men around her. Working with Annie to integrate the titles into the scene, I designed the typography and graphics to reinforce Elle’s growing frustration and establish the tension at the beginning of her story.

Promotional Materials

Extended the film’s visual identity into the movie poster and promotional postcard, using imagery rooted in mysticism and the eerie energy of the full moon. Red became a key visual element, symbolizing both femininity and the full moon while introducing a darker, more unsettling edge to the brand.

Closing Credit Sequence

Carried the film’s visual identity into the closing credits by developing a typographic system rooted in the film’s branding. Playing with scale, placement, and movement, created a type treatment that feels feminine, mystical, and slightly unsettling while giving the credits their own visual rhythm.
